Technologies of walking is a modest attempt to examine the act of walking and passing through as an ordinary form of bodily writing and finding. In this work I’m particularly interested in the idea that, to paraphrase Michel de Certeau, all stories begin with footsteps, as it were, on ground level.
“Tripod” is the first exercise of the project, a series of video recorded walks on a topographic tripod that I found on the street and adapted as stilts. In this exercise I explore ideas of learning a new knowledge, the search for balance, the orthopaedic use of a ‘third of foot’, and the experience of the body as a unit of measure when passing.
